What we offer

The “Perception Method” for patient care

We specialize in personalized eye care, glasses & lenses for all. Each patient receives a personalized eyewear fitting session. We help select frames for you based upon your vision objectives, unique fit needs, preference for design, and of course - budget. We make our fitting sessions as enjoyable as possible, giving you devoted one-on-one time to ask questions and feel confident in your selection.

Frame styles + fits for all faces

We opened Perception with a clear mission: help everyone. We carry a wide selection of independently owned eyewear makers with an eye for stylish and timeless frames. We carry frames of all shapes (round, square, tulip, cat-eye, ‘squircle’), and materials, including specific fits for larger/plus-size and petite faces.

Collection Spotlight: LOOL by Etnia Barcelona - Built to be Light.

Our most popular frame, LOOL is a collection of unisex frames made from medical-grade stainless steel. They are feather light and are designed with snap-latch technology, eliminating the need for screws.

Top-quality lenses

Perception Optical prioritizes lenses. We works exclusively with Zeiss Vision, the world’s leading lens designer and manufacturer to offer you the highest-quality lenses available on the market. Zeiss lenses come with state of the art coatings to reduce glare without sacrificing clarity and sharpness. Want more? Zeiss offers blue-light blocking lenses, specialized task and computer glasses, single-vision, Transitions™️, multi-focal/progressive, custom polarized clip-ons, various lens tints (for migraine-prone and light-sensitive eyes), polarization for sun protection, lab safety glasses, children’s optics and many more.

Perception Optical & Adam’s Story

Adam Estapa
Co-owner & Optician (LDO,ABOC,NCLEC)

Adam Estapa believes everyone has the right to see their world as best as they can. He is a graduate of the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology with an Associate of Applied Science in Opticianry, and certified and licensed optician by the American Board of Opticians and National Contact Lens Examiners. Adam has worked for numerous optical stores, including Warby Parker, SEE Eyewear, Boston Eye Group, and Vision Works. He speaks regularly at the Carroll Center for the Blind, offering help and hope to those living with visual disabilities.

Adam’s life-long passion for optics started with his very first pair of glasses – at just 13 months old. Born with Stargardt Disease, a rare genetic eye disorder, Adam’s whole world has literally been shaped by his glasses. He is legally blind, photophobic and color-blind. But that didn’t stop him from becoming a trained and licensed optician with one goal in mind: to help others see the best they can. Perception Optical was born out of frustration that so many optical retailers were not willing to listen to or able to solve his most basic vision issues. Adam understands deeply just how important eyewear is.

Yes, we’re married!

Rachel & Adam Estapa

One of their first dates, Adam and Rachel(Rae) made a list together called “Things I Want To Do With My Life” and at the top was owning their own business and doing what they each loved. They opened Perception in 2020, right when the pandemic struck and held fast to their vision. 15 years in, Adam & Rae still work as a team on everything and want Perception to feel like an extension of their home. Each bring their unique talents to Perception Optical and are proud of being a family-owned, Boston-area business.
